Dream Protector is an homage to a giant stuffed moose that my parents bought for me when I was young. Being neurodivergent, and profoundly anxious about everything, I had a hard time sleeping alone in my bedroom. If my mom or dad wasn't lying right beside me until I fell asleep every night, I would inevitably fall into a pit of my own fear.

On the day I saw the moose, I begged my parents to let me have him. I swore that he would keep me safe. He would make everything easier. He would grant my parents the nightly freedom to do whatever they wish after 8 pm. Dream Protector depicts the moose doing exactly what I swore he would do: protecting me from the nightmares and monsters that haunted me every night.

This piece is filled with related symbolism. The flowers are chamomile flowers, representing chamomile tea. The thorns represent a big rose bush right outside my bedroom window as a kid. The wolves represent my many anxieties.
